W tym miejscu, od XIV wieku, funkcjonował Dwór Miejski (Stadthof) – zespół budynków gospodarczych związanych z Radą Miasta. Hostel, mieszczący się w zabytkowej stajni z 1616 roku, stanowi unikalne świadectwo historii Głównego Miasta.
Obiekt znajduje się zaledwie 50 metrów od ul. Długiej, jednej z głównych arterii turystycznych Gdańska, w pobliżu najważniejszych zabytków i atrakcji, takich jak Dwór Artusa, Fontanna Neptuna, Żuraw nad Motławą, oraz liczne muzea, w tym Muzeum II Wojny Światowej i Muzeum Solidarności. Hostel Universus to doskonała baza wypadowa do odkrywania Gdańska, Helu, Kaszub oraz okolicznych atrakcji. ENG: Hostel Universus is located in a historic building of the former Royal Stables at Podgarbary 10, in the heart of Gdańsk’s Old Town. Since the 14th century, this site has been home to the City Court (Stadthof) – a group of municipal buildings associated with the City Council. The hostel, housed in a historic stable dating back to 1616, stands as a unique testament to the history of Gdańsk’s Main Town.
The property is just 50 meters from Ulica Długa, one of Gdańsk’s main tourist arteries, and is close to the most important landmarks and attractions, including The Artus Court, Neptune’s Fountain, The Crane over Motława, and numerous museums, such as the Museum of the Second World War and the Museum of Solidarity. Hostel Universus is an ideal base for exploring Gdańsk, Hel, Kashubia, and nearby attractions. Thanks to the proximity of a variety of public transport options, guests can quickly access the beach, Sobieszewo Island, Oliwa, Sopot, Gdynia, and Kashubia – a region full of picturesque towns, charming villages, lakes, and forests, perfect for nature lovers and those seeking an active holiday. Kashubia offers numerous hiking trails and cycling paths, ideal for running, hiking, cycling, or swimming.
Hostel Universus is also a great base for exploring the Hel Peninsula,guests can enjoy beautiful beaches and unique natural surroundings.
While the hostels vicinity is lively with restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs, the building itself ensures peace and quiet, allowing guests to relax after a day of sightseeing.
Guests can choose from spacious dormitories as well as single and double rooms, offering more privacy. The hostel also features a lounge with a dining area and a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, fridge, kettle, drip coffee maker, toaster, and sandwich maker. There are also lockers for bags and backpacks and services for storing larger luggage and bicycles.
In the summer season, due to the central location, the area may become livelier in the evenings, which may result in increased noise levels outside.

The hotel day starts from hour 15:00 and ends at 11:00.

For reservations for 6 or more guests, different booking conditions apply, including the possibility of an upfront non-refundable deposit and the requirement to confirm booking details with the reception in advance. Additional charges may also apply. Failure to contact the property in advance may result in the cancellation of the reservation.
