Pomnik Syreny nad Wisłą

Pomnik Syreny nad Wisłą, autorstwa Ludwiki Nitschowej, został zrealizowany z inicjatywy prezydenta Stefana Starzyńskiego. Początkowa koncepcja pomnika z zielonego szkła o wysokości 20 metrów została porzucona z powodu trudności technicznych i kosztów. Ostatecznie rzeźba została ustawiona na brzegu Wisły w 1939 roku. Model Syreny powstał w oparciu o studentkę etnografii Krystynę Krahelską. Rzeźba przedstawia Syrenę z mieczem i tarczą z wizerunkiem orła. Monument miał upamiętniać herb Warszawy i zdobić bulwary wiślane. Pomnik przetrwał II wojnę światową, mimo uszkodzeń, a w 1966 roku przeszedł renowację, w tym uruchomienie fontanny.
